THE OLDEST RUSSIAN INSTITUTE OF FRUIT CROPS BREEDING

The short history of All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Fruit Crops Breeding was recounted and the main scientific achievements of the Institute were presented relating to the breeding of an apple tree (including resistant to scab high productive and columned, triploid varieties), a pear tree (bushy and winter hardy forms), a cherry tree and apricot (adapted to the region conditions), a blackcurrant (immune and high resistant to powdery mildew varieties with high level of ascorbic acid), a redcurrant and other crops.
