This publication represents the first attempt at a global assessment of the state and trends occurring in animal genetic resources, as well as the organization of the structural and technological base for managing these resources. This provides a basis for renewed action to guarantee the implementation of the planned steps to improve the management of genetic resources announced at the World Food Summit Plan of Action.
