LIPID PEROXIDATION AND ANTIOXIDANT PROTECTION IN TRIATHLON HORSES DURING COMPETITIVENESS PERIOD

The author investigated the content of intermediate (diene conjugates) and terminal (malonic dialdehyde) products of lipid peroxidation and also antioxidants (α-tocopherol, catalase, ceruloplasmin) in blood plasma of triathlon horses from May up to September. It was shown, that the peroxidation activity is increasing, the activity of its terminal stages is raising particularly. It causes the enhanced load on antioxidant protection of organism, with which the organism don’t be able to cope in full. The essential differences were not revealed between studhorses, mares and geldings.
