PRESENT AND FUTURE OF ADAPTIVE SELECTION AND SEED BREEDING BASED ON IDENTIFICATION AND SYSTEMATIZATION OF PLANT GENETIC RESOURCES

A.A. Zhuchenko, аcademician of the Russian Academy of Science and the Russian Academy of Agricultural Science

Characteristics of formation and realization of flowering plant adaptive potential are presented in the paper. It was considered the specificity of their adaptation as well as the ways of functional and genetic classification of flowering plants to appropriate gene donors and genetic collections based on botanic, cytogenetic, morphoanatomic (phenotypic), physiological-and-biochemic, phytopathologic, ecological and other estimation methods. It was made a special emphasis on collections of mutants (spontaneous and induced), polyploids and aneuploids, life forms, ecotypes, genotrophs, core-collections, cytoplasmic determinants, genetically modified plants, introgressive, transgressive and abnormal genotypes etc. Possibilities to withstand the expansion aspirations of world seed breeding corporations are presented.

Keywords: adaptive system of plant and seed breeding, genetic resources, identification and systematization.
