DIFFERENTIATED USE OF TERRITORIES FOR CALVING BY EUROPEAN SAIGA

On the basis of own observations, the data of literature, official information of the Federal Agency on veterinary and phytosanitary inspection of Republic of Kalmykia and the State wildlife biospheric preservation «Black Earth» the author carried out an analysis of territories, which the European saiga use in preference for calving in natural environment, semi-free conditions and in captivity. Though the reduction of European population of saiga before the calving the animals form accumulations of several thousand heads in number. The saigas from wild and semi-free populations prefer the definite territories, where the large calving took place at different years.
