TOTAL CONTENT OF CALCIUM IN LYMPHOCYTES AND THROMBOCYTES OF IRRADIATED SHEEPS

T.S. Shevchenko, I.V. Konopleva

The total Ca2+ content has been studied in the lymphocytes and thrombocytes isolated from the peripheral blood of sheeps exposed to external ?-radiation at doses of 1.2, 2.3 and 3.5 Gy. The development of radiation damage to the body is accompanied by significant changes in the content of intracellular Ca2+ in the lymphocytes from the first day after exposure. The 1.5-4.5-fold increase of Ca2+ content was shown in the lymphocytes from 1st to 30th day after irradia-tion. In the thrombocytes of irradiated sheeps the total Ca2+ content remains at the level of con-trol values for 30 days.

Key words: sheeps, external ?-radiation, the lymphocytes, the thrombocytes, the total Ca2+ content.
