ACC DEAMINASE AND PLANT—BACTERIA INTERACTIONS (review)

A.A. Belimov, V.I. Safronova

The review presents results related to the study of symbiotrophic bacteria, containing enzyme 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate (ACC) deaminase, through which the bacteria reduce the formation of phytohormone ethylene and stimulate growth of plants. Mechanisms of the effects of ACC-utilizing bacteria on plants, biodiversity of ACC-utilizing bacteria and characteristics of the enzyme and ACC deaminase genes are discussed. Particular attention is paid to the role of such plant-microbe interaction in plant tolerance to abiotic stresses and formation of legume-Rhizobium symbiosis.

Keywords: bacterisation, microbial associations, rhizosphere, symbiosis, phytohormones.
