MICROBIOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF PROCESSING THE LIVESTOCK WASTES

I.A. Arkhipchenko

The aeration tank sludge biocenosis of the pig-farm sewage disposal system is desсribed. This biocenosis is composed of bacterial flora and protozoan fauna. The bacterial fraction of the active sludge biocenosis is dominated by nocardioforms, which make up 50-80 % of all isolates. Infusoria are represented mainly by the genera Opercularia, Vorticella and Epistylis; flagellula are represented by the genera Bodo, Monas and Oicomonas. The described biocenosis is a harmonious ecological complex, which is almost independent of the external environment under the normal functioning conditions of the sewage disposal system.

Keywords: bacteria, microorganisms, infusoria, active sludge, sewage water, aerotanks.
