BLOOD SUPPLY OF COW UDDER AND MILK SECRETION IN DIFFERENT PERIODS OF LACTATION

V.P. Meshcheryakov1, N.S. Shevelev2

In the cows of the Black-and-White breed the authors determined the changes in correlation between blood volumes, supplied to udder, and yield of milk in different periods of lactation. The value of volumetric blood circulation in the udder during interval for three minutes before milking is the index, describing the intensity of blood supply and milk secretion for period from preceding milking. The correlation between blood volume and yield of milk characterizes the metabolic activity of udder. This correlation is rising as the lactation time increase, which indicates decrease of metabolic function of udder.

Keywords: mammary blood flow, the ratio of blood flow to milk yield, the lactation.
