BREEDING OF SCAB IMMUNE APPLE CULTIVARS, A PROBLEM OF DURABLE RESISTANCE AND THE POSSIBLE WAYS OF ITS SOLUTION (review)

The information is presented about realization of breeding programmes for developing of new apple cultivars with monogenic scab resistance (by now — more than 155), scab immune cultivars have been released in the world to our time. 85 % of these cultivars have resistance controlled by Vf gene from Malus floribunda 821 clone. The problems of resistance stability to new races of pathogen in immune apple cultivars are regarded and possible ways of its preservation are discussed.
